Inspiration Board: Tip-Toe Through the Tulips

Tulips are the perfect flower for any wedding celebration! Tulips are wonderfully versatile and they work in a formal ballroom setting, a cozy backyard, or at a sunny seaside soiree.

Tulips come in three varieties: Dutch (the ones with the shorter stems); French (the ones with the longer stems); and parrot (the striped ones with the ruffled edges). Tulips were originally cultivated in Persia, and in Turkish culture the tulip has divine status, symbolizing paradise on Earth.

Charming and easy to design with, tulips are great for DIY projects like creating your own centerpieces or bouquet. I have heard that the flowers are pretty sensitive and do need to be kept cold as long as possible before display. So, if you’re not feeling crafty with your flowers, let the professionals tip-toe through the tulips for you.

I love the timeless elegance of the tulip wedding featured below. Often we go crazy with ideas for wedding decorations, but this event is a great reminder of how a few carefully paced details can add the perfect amount of flair without overdoing it. All you really need is a simple focal point on your tables like the tulip and burlap centerpieces below, or a hint of fun by tying a few blooms to the “Just Married” gettaway golf-cart! Sometimes less is perfect!
