At Russell Gearhart Photography, we spend our days celebrating big moments! We love being a part of our client’s weddings and parties; or photographing new family members! We understand the value of stepping back and really enjoying these big moments when they come along. They’re important.

With that said, I hope you will indulge me as I share some personal news.

As you know, I write this blog and work for Russell as the studio’s graphic designer. But in my free time, I’ve been chipping away at a young adult novel and working on some picture books. (I actually just finished my MFA in writing for children and young adults). Writing for kids is a very competitive field, and I’m excited to announce that I’ve moved past one of the major hurdles on the way to publication. I’ve just signed with a literary agent! (Yup, I’ve been jumping for joy like the picture to the right!)

Publication is still a ways off, but it’s nice to dream about how amazing one of my author photos will look on a book jacket!

As you’ve guessed, Russell made the fabulous images above! I’m still trying to decide which one will be my official “author photo.” Feel free to weigh in with your opinion in the comments section!

Of course, creating author portraits isn’t anything new for Russell. He loves capturing the unique flair of everyone he photographs, and authors are a fun clientele! Look at these two fabulous author portraits as examples:
