It was a bustling Sunday afternoon for this Pasadena City Hall family portrait. The courtyard may look empty in this image, but trust me … behind us were three sets of brides and grooms with their wedding parties! And who can blame them? Pasadena City Hall is modeled after the work of Italian architect Andrea Palladio and is an absolutely gorgeous place to make images.

Despite the commotion going on around us, the Castaneda family took center stage. How could they not … just look at those beaming smiles! The grand dame of the family was their 14-year-old German shepherd, Cassie, with a gorgeous saffron coat and wise eyes. Now in her silver years of dog-dom, Cassie seemed to be the inspiration for the family scheduling their session. I love that this pet is truly a part of the family.
