Emily + Sam’s Page Museum and La Brea Tar Pits wedding was a mammoth of a time!
These two filmmakers got “married to adventure” with an Indiana Jones-esque adventure film theme. The La Brea Tar Pits set the scene as the two exchanged vows on the upper terrace of the Page Museum, overlooking the “jungle” courtyard. Wedding flowers framed the bride and groom, but with a twist: they mimicked a film set, with stems blooming from the heads of silver par can lights on c-stands.
After the cocktail hour, the couple treated their guests to a 3-D short film that they shot and produced. The movie stared our fearless bride and groom as they braved the perils of quicksand and zombie pirates … of course falling in love in the process.
The reception was held inside the museum with tables surrounded by ancient mammoth bones. A casting call was used for the dinner menus, and tables were named after classic character tropes (i.e. The Boss, The Muscle, The Sidekick, etc.). Of course, with an adventure theme, no one had time to eat wedding cake, but there was plenty of time to cut a mini-pie. Yum yum!
We also had a blast taking portraits with the silly couple on the museum grounds. The couple sneaked a kiss under the LACMA lamppost sculpture, and danced in front of a woolly mammoth.
However, it seems the bones at the Page Museum sometimes come to life … don’t miss that small unfortunate brush we had with the T-Rex after the ceremony!
This wedding was a true blockbuster. We hope you enjoy Emily and Sam’s wedding story as much as we had fun capturing it.
May the adventure begin!
