We met up with the Millers for their Pasadena family portraits at Cobb Estate on a dazzling late summer morning. I love this location. The Sam Merrill trail starts with a grand iron gate, and is followed by a crumbling road cradled by towering trees. It makes me think of the ol’ glory days of Pasadena when the promenade led to the Mount Lowe Railway, which took you to the Echo Mountain House, a 70-room Victorian Hotel, that overlooked Los Angeles.

Now the estate is a hiker’s paradise. During our session, some morning walkers stopped to compliment the Miller family’s German Shepard, Zoey, who is stunning. Look at that pup’s beautiful tan and black coat! She’s also got the smile to match. You didn’t think a dog could smile, but the lovely Zoey sure can!

Of course, the real star of this session was little Evan. Dear, sweet little Evan and his lady-killer smile! I can’t get enough of this kid. Evan had a grand old time toddling along the Sam Merrill trail and exploring with us.
